My daughter, Beth Eisch, likes coneflowers that every year decorate her garden in Michigan. I found this pattern, and together we talked about the fabrics. She loves pastel colors, so I chose the various light purples from my fabric stash. The background is pieced, using many different light-cream patterns. The design allowed for creative quilting, which I wanted to accentuate with a contracting-color thread on the back of the quilt to make it more prominent. The front-back photos below give you a good impression of how the quilting stitches.
